Tanzania COVID Travel Guidelines: Rules You Need to Know Before Traveling
Every country has its own Covid travel policies, and so does Tanzania. Citizens planning to visit here should clearly learn about Tanzania Covid travel rules.
Health Surveillance Form requirements
All international passengers entering Zanzibar are required to complete an online Health Surveillance Form before departure.
Before a domestic departure or on arrival at a domestic destination on a flight leaving from Tanzania, passengers may be asked to complete an online Domestic Departure Health Surveillance Form.
Passengers should fill out a Health Surveillance Form on the plane or any other transport means and submit it to Port Health authorities upon arrival.
Covid-19 requirements
Passengers who are fully vaccinated are exempt from pre-departure Covid testing requirements. Upon arrival, passengers will be required to show a valid vaccination certificate with a QR code for verification. The EU Digital Covid Certificate is accepted, and foreign tourists should carry a printed copy. The only acceptable vaccines are those recognized as safe and effective by the WHO and Tanzania's Ministry of Health.
A negative Covid-19 RT PCR (Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction) or NAATs (Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests) certificate with a QR code, received within 72 hours before departure, will be needed for passengers who are not fully vaccinated, unvaccinated, or not eligible for vaccination.
Passengers who are not fully vaccinated or unvaccinated who travel to Tanzania without a negative Covid-19 RT PCR certificate will be tested for Covid-19 upon arrival using a Rapid
Antigen Test at a cost for mainland Tanzania, except children aged 12 years and below. A second RT PCR test will be administered at an added cost if the results are positive. And you may be required to quarantine at a government-designated facility. Remember that any expenses paid are also your own expense.
Transit passengers are exempt from both the vaccination certificate and the Covid-19 testing requirements unless specifically stated otherwise by their travel operator or by the authorities in Tanzania.

Extra Information About Tanzania Covid Guidelines
We mentioned Tanzania Covid travel guidelines above. However, to have a safe trip without worrying about anything, Tanzania Immigration Service recommends that travelers buy travel insurance as an added precaution.
About Tanzania travel insurance with Covid-19 coverage
Many travel insurance packages provide extensive medical coverage; however, not all of them cover Covid-related problems. Make sure the insurance coverage you are purchasing will keep you protected if you test positive for Covid.
At Tanzania Immigration Services, we offer an easy-to-use visa application system with travel insurance (covering Covid-19 treatment expenses) at affordable prices. If travelers test positive for Covid-19, our insurance will assist them in covering medical costs and emergency evacuation.
Our travel insurance coverage will cover clients' illnesses or injuries experienced while traveling. The expense of medical care when traveling abroad can be rather significant; this is when travel insurance is applicable. Medical insurance makes it simpler to find nearby medical specialists and facilities.
Medical treatment expenses with Tanzania travel insurance
Your Tanzania travel insurance will cover medical expenses if you get sick or injured during your trip. Domestic health insurance is generally not responsible for medical incidents abroad or has certain limitations. When traveling abroad, buying Tanzania travel insurance with medical coverage is beneficial.
Covid-19 coverage is also available through travel insurance, which can help cover the expense of testing. Like any other newly discovered disease, Covid will be covered and can include a benefit for those required to quarantine at their destination.
The other treatments are covered by the Tanzania travel insurance
- Baggage/luggage lost compensation when using Tanzania travel insurance:
Insurance packages include many insurance policies for luggage, such as lost checked baggage. However, some travel insurance policies only help you pay the extra expenses; the rest you must claim from the airline if they misplace your luggage. For baggage delay coverage, Tanzania travel insurance will pay the cost of necessities like a toothbrush, toilet paper, clothing, etc.
This insurance could provide coverage for missing passports, critical paperwork, money, or other personal items. With Tanzania travel insurance, the costs of the luggage may also be protected during an emergency evacuation or any other mishap.
- Trip delay and cancellation when using Tanzania travel insurance
If the trip is delayed or canceled due to an unforeseen occurrence, travel insurance agencies will reimburse the costs in this case. Weather-related cancellations or delays may also result from labor disputes or other factors. They will also offer some additional benefits, such as access to food and clothing. Additionally, if you have travel insurance for Tanzania and must postpone or cancel your trip due to an emergency, your expenses will be paid for.
Your trip cancellation for one of the reasons that are mentioned in the policies will also be covered by Tanzania travel insurance. Trip-cancellation coverage will help you recoup the money you've already spent on your vacation if you have to cancel your trip due to a covered reason, such as a family member being ill or being admitted to the hospital, or you being summoned for jury duty.
In conclusion, Medical Payments Coverage, Trip Delay, Trip Interruption, Lost Baggage, and Protecting Your Benefit from the Covid-19 Pandemic are among the treatments provided by Tanzania travel insurance.
