Who can apply for an e-Visa?
Citizens of 160 countries, including the United States, can apply for a Tanzania e-Visa. The e-Visa is for people visiting Tanzania for business, treatment, recreation, sightseeing, visiting friends or relatives and so on.
Before you apply for a Tanzania visa, there are a few things you should know:
- E-Visas are preferred: Travelers are recommended to apply for their Tanzania visa online using the e-Visa option, which is faster and more effective. The vast majority of Tanzanian visas are now handled and granted digitally.
- No online renewal: If you wish to renew your Tanzania e-Visa or tourist visa, you must visit the Head Immigration Office in Dar es Salaam. Visa renewal services are currently not available online.
- Multiple entry visas are necessary. US nationals visiting Tanzania for tourism must apply for the Multiple Entry Visa, not the Ordinary Visa. According to this condition, it may be quicker to leave Tanzania and return for a new three-month period than to file for a renewal.
