What must UK citizens show a customs official when they arrive in Tanzania?
For British citizens traveling to Tanzania with a passport, the Tanzania Electronic Visa (e-Visa) is available online.
The process of applying for a visa to Tanzania remotely over the internet is thought to be a big improvement over the previous one, which required visitors to physically submit their documents at the Tanzanian diplomatic presence.
Several conditions for UK citizens need to be satisfied before they can apply for a Tanzania visa from the UK in order to travel, visit relatives, do business, or transit. Citizens of the United Kingdom are required to have:
- You must arrive in Tanzania with a current UK passport that has at least six months left on its validity.
- A digital photo in the format of a passport.
- You will be required to present your flight reservation confirmation in order to verify your exact duration of stay.
- Company's letter of invitation and COI (for business e-visa).
- Identity card or passport and a letter of invitation from the tour operator (for multiple entry by tourist visa).
Please print a paper copy of your visa when it arrives, and carry it with you to the Tanzanian border together with the passport you used to apply for it. Immigration officers at border entrance points have the final decision on who is allowed to enter Tanzania, therefore entry is not guaranteed. Therefore, it's important to ensure that visitors have all the required documentation when going through Tanzania's immigration control area.
