Although other regions such as Mwanza (known for agriculture, fishing, and mining) and Arusha (which is a great tourism destination and agricultural hub) are large contributors to the total gross domestic product of Tanzania and also provide greater gross domestic product in some of the sub-regions, none of them can yet compete with Dar es Salaam in the total size of the economy, variety and richness of the economy and the wealth per capita.
