How to get to Tanzania?

Tanzania, Africa's visual masterpiece, is one of the most beautiful places to visit. It is a country of breathtaking natural magnificence, fantastic wildlife spotting, powder white beaches, beautiful historic villages and archaeological UNESCO world heritage sites in Tanzania. Getting to Tanzania is quite straightforward. There are many ways to get to Tanzania including:

By air

There are three major international airports in Tanzania: 

Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO): Located between Arusha and Moshi, this is the most popular entrance point into the country for travelers visiting the Northern Safari Circuit, which encompasses the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara.

Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR): This is a good option for those visiting Dar es Salaam or the Southern Safari Circuit that includes Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park. 

Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ): For travelers traveling directly to Zanzibar, this airport is located just 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) outside of Stone Town, the capital.

All three airports have good international connections from most major cities in Europe and North America.

By road

Tanzania can also be accessed by car if you are traveling into the country from a neighboring country.

The roads from Nairobi to Arusha or from Zambia through Mbeya and Iringa are in good condition, but drivers should be aware that driving in Tanzania can be very hectic.

Watch out for police controls and be careful not to underestimate the long distances between destinations.
